Antonio Di Domenico

Tony is the co-chair of the Antitrust/Competition and Marketing group at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. As former counsel to Canada’s Commissioner of Competition (Department of Justice Canada) and having represented the Commissioner and private parties in many of Canada’s most significant competition matters, Tony is widely regarded and ranked as a leading competition lawyer and litigator in Canada.

Tony represents and counsels clients in domestic and multi-jurisdictional competition matters, including mergers, criminal cartel matters, advertising and marketing practices, abuse of dominance, and other reviewable matters. He represents parties in criminal and civil investigations, class action litigation, and litigated proceedings before Canada’s Competition Tribunal. Tony has extensive trial and appellate experience and has appeared as counsel before Canada’s Competition Tribunal, all levels of court in Ontario, all levels of federal court, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

While at the Department of Justice, Tony directly advised the Commissioner on many of the Competition Bureau’s high-profile cases. In this role, Tony represented the Commissioner in complaints and investigations, the review of complex mergers, major litigated proceedings, the negotiation of remedies and orders, and other enforcement matters. Tony also advised on Competition Bureau enforcement guidelines and competition policy matters.

Tony is an adjunct law professor at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, where he teaches competition law and trial advocacy. He is a non-governmental adviser to the International Competition Network, a network of the world’s competition authorities that promotes effective global antitrust enforcement. Tony is active in the leadership of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Competition Law Section, having served as chair of the Criminal Matters Committee and currently serving as a vice-chair of the Mergers Committee. Tony is also active in the leadership of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, currently serving as a vice-chair of the Consumer Protection Committee. Tony is a past chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Class Action Section and currently sits on the Bench and Bar Class Action Liaison Committee in the province of Ontario.
