Daisy-Mae Hamelinck

Daisy-Mae Hamelinck completed her Master of Arts in the Department of Sociology at McMaster University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Wilfrid Laurier University), Bachelor of Education (University of Toronto) and a Social Service Worker Diploma (Fanshawe). She is also an Ontario Certified Teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (since 2005).

Daisy has taught for 20 years in post-secondary settings and is currently teaching at Fanshawe College and Conestoga College, primarily in the Liberal Studies Departments. Most of her teaching career has been spent at Conestoga College and Western University, but her teaching journey began at McMaster University as a teaching assistant, followed by her time at triOS College when she helped launch the Community Service Worker (CSW) program. Daisy was then promoted to Faculty Head and received the award for Instructor of the Year in 2006 (Faculty of Healthcare) across all triOS College campuses in Ontario. In 2017-2018, Daisy returned to triOS College and launched the position of Student Success Coach.

As a two-time cancer survivor (2008+2017), Daisy has presented regularly with the Terry Fox Foundation (2010-2017) touring schools across Ontario and was a regular guest speaker at the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in London (2012-2019). She has appeared on CTV News London with Jan Sims, Canada AM with Seamus O'Reagan, Global News with Leslie Roberts, and CityNews.

In October 2018, her first co-authored book, Interpersonal and Group Dynamics: A Practical Approach to Building an Effective Team was published, and is currently used in colleges across Canada: www.emond.ca/igd3.

Daisy strives to live her best life and enable others to do the same through workshops and one-on-one sessions at Your New Leaf, www.yournewleaf.ca. It is in these settings that many of the concepts presented in her book have become popular life-skills workshops in the community.
