Mark J. Selick

Mark J. Selick is senior counsel in the Financial Services Group in the Toronto office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, where he has practised since 1982, retiring as a partner in 2018. His practice has focused on the securitization of a wide variety of asset types, factoring, the purchase and sale of pools of trade receivables, credit card receivables, loans, leases and mortgages, and the structuring of mortgage origination and servicing arrangements. He has also been involved in all aspects of equipment leasing, from small-ticket leasing programs to fleet leasing arrangements to complex structured leases, and has advised on and structured loyalty points programs. 

Mark has been recognized as a leading Canadian lawyer in various Canadian and international publications in the areas of banking and finance law, securitization, and asset equipment finance/leasing and was named as one of the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. Mark has written on secured transactions, securitization, anti–money laundering, privacy, and e-commerce and has spoken at numerous Canadian and international conferences.

Since 2018, Mark has been an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law, where he co-teaches Secured Transactions with Michael Burke.
