Mary Ann Kelly

Mary Ann Kelly retired after having taught for 14 years in Seneca College’s School of Legal and Public Administration in Toronto. She is a lawyer and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, holding a BA from the University of Toronto and a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She has also studied international law at The Hague Academy at the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands.

Kelly practised law as a partner in a small law firm before moving to the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, where she acted as Reciprocity Counsel from 1990 to 1997. In that role she managed the ministry’s obligations under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and the Reciprocity Act. From 1997 to 2000 Mary Ann acted as a legal policy consultant to the federal Department of Justice, working on drafting and implementing policy and legislation. She has also taught in the faculties of Business and Continuing Education at Toronto Metropolitan University.
