S. Patricia Knight

Patricia Knight is a former professor in the Paralegal Program at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. She has an MA (English Literature) from Queen’s University and a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. She taught in the Paralegal Program at Sheridan Institute from 1999 to 2016. She was coordinator of the program from 2000 to 2008. During her coordinatorship, the Sheridan Paralegal (then Court and Tribunal Agent) Program grew steadily and went through many changes, including the institution of regulation of the paralegal profession in Ontario by the Law Society of Upper Canada. The Sheridan Paralegal Program was one of the first paralegal programs in Ontario to be accredited by the Law Society to deliver paralegal curriculum.

Patricia has an ongoing interest in access to justice issues and has served on the boards of several community legal clinics. She is a supporter of the expansion of paralegal practice in Ontario, and will observe with interest the direction that paralegal practice and paralegal education take in the next decade or so.

Patricia is the author two books: Ethics and Professional Practice for Paralegals and Small Claims Court: Procedure and Practice, both published by Emond.
