Alison J. Wheeler
Alison J. Wheeler (LLB, BCL) is currently Crown counsel at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario. Ms. Wheeler obtained her LLB and BCL degrees at McGill University in 1992. She clerked for Justice John Sopinka at the Supreme Court of Canada, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1994. Ms. Wheeler has always practised criminal law, primarily in appeals, and regularly appears before the Ontario Court of Appeal. She started her career at the firm Greenspan, Rosenberg and Buhr, and has been counsel at the Crown Law Office, Criminal since 2005. As defence counsel, Ms. Wheeler was one of the founding members of the volunteer Ontario Court of Appeal Inmate Appeals Duty Counsel program in 1998. As Crown counsel, she was responsible for the management of the Kingston Inmate Appeals for many years.
