Carissima Mathen
Carissima Mathen, LSM (B.A. McGill, LL.B. Osgoode, LL.M. Columbia) is Professor of Law at the University of Ottawa. A noted constitutional scholar, she is the award-winning author of Courts Without Cases: The Law and Politics of Advisory Opinions (Hart, 2019) and The Tenth Justice: Judicial Appointments, Marc Nadon and the Supreme Court Act Reference (UBC Press, 2020) (with Michael Plaxton). A recipient of the Law Society Medal from the Law Society of Ontario, Professor Mathen is committed to public education and legal literacy. In addition to her books, Professor Mathen has published widely on all aspects of constitutional law, as well as criminal law, legal theory, and law and technology.
