Catherine Dauvergne

Catherine Dauvergne (BA, MA, LLB, PhD) is a Professor of Law at the University of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Trudeau Foundation. She teaches, researches, and writes in the area of migration law and is involved in pro bono litigation. Dauvergne has published more than sixty journal articles and book chapters. Her books Humanitarianism Identity and Nation and Making People Illegal: What Globalization Means for Migration and Law are both theoretical engagements with the broad themes of migration regulation. Dauvergne has recently completed a study of the failure of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms to protect the rights of non-citizens. Her next books will be titled The End of Settler Societies and the New Politics of Immigration (2015) and Gender in Refugee Law (2014, co-edited with Efrat Arbel and Jenni Millbank).
