Dale Ives retired from the active practice of law in 2019. She currently works as a consultant. Ms. Ives was a full-time law professor for seven years, defence counsel for five years, and Crown counsel with the Public Prosecution Services Canada for five years. She has defended or prosecuted cases at all levels of court in Ontario. Ms. Ives has published numerous articles and case comments in leading criminal law journals in Canada, England and the United States, and is one of the co-authors on the leading casebook on sentencing in Canada. She is a past Director of Education for the London Criminal Lawyers’ Association and a past Regional Director for the Ontario Criminal Lawyers’ Association. She has provided continuing legal education for a wide variety of organizations including the National Judicial Institute of Canada, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Criminal Lawyers’ Association, the London Criminal Lawyers’ Association, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the London Police Service.
