David Berg

David Berg, BA, MA, PhD, LLB, was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1998 and in Nunavut in 2013. He practised as a criminal defence lawyer in both jurisdictions until 2017 when he was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice. Prior to studying law, he was an Egyptologist and conducted scholarly work in that field. As a lawyer, he became interested in the issue of pro se accused and published a series of articles on that topic. He is presently working on an article on the role of defence counsel at fitness hearings as well as a book on the Belcher Island murder trial.
