Ernest J. Weinrib
Ernest Weinrib (BA, PhD, LLB) teaches law at the University of Toronto, where he is the Cecil A. Wright Professor of Law and holds the rank of University Professor. He has a written extensively on tort law and legal theory, and has a special interest in the theory of tort law. Weinrib has authored The Idea of Private Law (Oxford University Press, revised edition, 2012) and Corrective Justice (Oxford University Press, 2012). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has also been a recipient of the OCUFA award for outstanding university teaching. In 2009, the Canada Council for the Arts awarded him the Killam Prize, Canada’s highest honour for academic achievement.
