Glenn Barenthin
Glenn Barenthin is a professor at the University of Guelph-Humber and Seneca College, where he teaches courses on criminal law, federal legislation, ethics, and the Charter of Rights, as well as a seminar course on the mind and the law. He holds a BA in history (York University), a master of theology (University of Toronto), and a PhD (University of Toronto—Trinity College). His doctoral dissertation dealt with human cooperation that included evidence from anthropology, history, cognitive science, psychology, and game theory. His book, Solving the Evolutionary Puzzle of Human Cooperation, was published in 2019, where he answered the question: What led humans, uniquely among animals, to have large-scale civilizations with unprecedented cooperation? Prior to teaching, Glenn was a police officer with the Toronto Police Service, retiring in 2014 at the rank of Detective Sergeant. His postings included Primary Response, Community Response, Detective Office, Street Crime Unit, Toronto Drug Squad, Organized Crime Enforcement, and the Hold-Up Squad.
