Jonathan Dawe
Jonathan Dawe, B.Sc. (McGill) 1987, LL.B. (Toronto) 1994, LL.M. (Yale) 1996 was appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in 2018. After receiving his LL.B. in 1994 he served as law clerk to former Chief Justice Lamer at the Supreme Court of Canada before attending graduate studies at the Yale Law School. For more than twenty years, from his call to the Ontario bar in 1997 up until his appointment to the bench, he practiced criminal law in Toronto with a primary focus on criminal appeals, appearing on numerous appeals and interventions in the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also taught criminal procedure as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and co-founded the Faculty’s appellate criminal litigation externship program.
