Shaun Finn

Shaun E. Finn is a partner in the Montréal-based litigation department of BCF LLP and co-leader of the firm’s Class Action Defence Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and class actions.

Since articling and clerking at the Court of Appeal of Québec, Shaun has appeared before the Administrative Tribunal of Québec, the Municipal Court, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Superior Court of Québec, the Court of Appeal of Québec and the Federal Court of Appeal. His class action work involves the representation of corporate and institutional defendants in the areas of product liability, consumer protection, privacy and securities. Shaun has been cited by courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal of Québec, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal and the Superior Court of Québec. He has also been interviewed by Le Devoir, Law Times, Investment Executive and The National for his perspective on class action trends.

Shaun joined the International Association of Defense Counsel in 2022 and was named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2021. He has been recognized by his peers through his inclusion in the Chambers Canada ranking, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and the Best Lawyers in Canada directory. He was also included in Concordia University’s 50 Under 50: Shaping Tomorrow (2022). Shaun has written, edited and contributed to many publications on class actions. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the BCF Class Action NetLetter and a sessional lecturer at the McGill Faculty of Law.
